Glass Collection

Year: 2008

Authorship: Becka Citron (USA), Ben Cabelli (Israel), Rita Botelho (Portugal), Valentina Carretta (Italy)

A new, untypical glass collection designed by Fabrica for Secondome.

Objects used in the past, such as cake or roast covers, are reinvented in both their use and their shape. The past and the future blend in these innovatively-shaped creations: the future lies in the ideas and sketches of Fabrica’s young designers, while the past is represented both by the choice of the material (glass) and by relying on the art of skilled glass-makers. A collection revisiting daily use objects in an ironic and unconventional way and transforming them into top design pieces.

The collection is made up of 14 mouth-blown glass pieces: cake covers, roast covers, pitchers and sculptures.

- Pick a fruit, with a apple-shaped handle; by Becka Citron (USA)

- Dinner time, a roast chicken-shaped roast cover; by Ben Cabelli (Israel)

- Glass Martians, four different models of Martian-shaped bells; by Becka Citron (USA).

- Upside down, subtly provocative cheese covers with handles reproducing cognac, red and white wine glasses; by Rita Botelho (Portugal).

- Funny fauna, a trio including a snail-shaped bowl for candies, a giraffe-shaped flower pot and a wine pot shaped like a chick with a beak and claws; by Valentina Carretta (Italy).
